Every Girl Needs Her Mother

Author: Kiana Perez

Browse the book

This book not only entails a journey of love, but a horrific realization of what true evil looks like. Lily has undergone the terrible loss of her mother through one of the world's most major and tragic events, otherwise known as 9/11. Her feeble mind was exposed to a very hurtful death and she was forced to deal with it in a way where she wasn't fully able to heal. Instead, 14 year old Lily focused all of her attention on her little brother, Tony, who she valued even more now that he didn't have a mother to take care of him. Her life will be toyed with by a few helpers who have been sent to try and get her to cheat death itself and meet with the one person who is the antagonist in most stories, but maybe not so much in this one. In this enticing short novel, Lily will realize that her mom's death was not fate at all, and instead caused by an abuser of love who played the role of, well, you'll just have to find out.

Kiana Perez

My name is Kiana Monique Perez Granados. I am from Salinas, California, but am currently residing in Marina. I attend Salinas High School and am about 16 years old. This novel is my dream in physical form, which should say just how important it is to me. I have been writing for a very long time and in fact, this concept was originally created in the 5th grade, but I had to amp it up into a much more mature and complex idea. I have realized that I can be a perfectionist with most things, especially my writing, which can be both a blessing and a curse. I love my family and friends who have always supported me through my dream of becoming an author, and I will always write to please not only myself, but my audience. I would like to be able to live through my writing and give people a sense of who I am based on the words I write and how I write them. I believe it is important for the artwork to match the artist, so hopefully my novel exemplifies the person I am, or at least the person I hope to be with time.

The Optimistic Goldfish

Steve Wickens

This is my first brand new collection of poems for many years. It was refreshing for me to write new poetry without having to rely on my past work. There are 40 poems in all and are arguably lighter than what I wrote previously. Of course my thoughts about self worth and religion are still present in my writing, but there are several light poems that just reflect silliness and hopefully will create smiles. Poetry is a wondrous thing because it is a form of writing that can attract debates and discussion. It depends on the interpretation. These new poems are a gift to myself. I hope you enjoy them.

The Flesh And Shadows

JMS

Flesh and Shadows is a gripping psychological horror novel that delves into the murky depths of the human psyche against the backdrop of a crime-ridden urban landscape. Detective Alex Mercer struggles with insomnia and troubled relationships as he contends with the pressures of a city spiralling into chaos due to a series of grisly murders. As he investigates these chilling cases, he becomes entangled in the web of fear and paranoia that grips the community, while the media sensationalizes each horrifying detail. Alex confronts unsettling clues and ominous whispers that hint at dark forces lurking beneath the surface. With each eerie discovery, the weight of isolation presses heavily on him, straining his already frail friendships with Claire and Jack. As Alex's grip on reality begins to waver, the tension escalates, leading him to a chilling confrontation with the truth behind the haunting murders. In Flesh and Shadows, readers are taken on a harrowing journey through dread and despair, where the struggle against overwhelming darkness becomes both a personal battle and an exploration of the horrors that lie hidden in the shadows of the human soul.
